The practice is carried out at clinics of the University Hospital Trnava and in social care facilities. The theoretical part of the study is aimed at health issues, while it is to a large extent dealing with nursing care in individual clinical branches. The study can be done at a bachelor´s degree, both in full-time and part-time form.

The scientific orientation of the department is based on the professional specialization of its employees. The department members actively participate in the realization of scientific-research tasks within the framework of KEGA (Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic) and APVV (The Slovak Research and Development Agency) grants. Doctors are members of teams conducting clinical studies. The research activities of the department members are documented in publications of Slovak and foreign journals as well as in presentations of research results at national and international conferences (see also research and publication activities of the staff).

In addition to the educational and research activities, the department members are also successfully involved in events supporting health care activities, mainly blood donation, first aid and voluntary activities related to migrants.
